Owing to his beliefs that Bolivians should be allowed to take control of the coca and cocaine production, Miguel sought to usurp and undermine the cartel both in Media Luna and surrounding provinces. The extreme and sporadic violence cartel members regularly engaged in and the sheer fanaticism of the La Santa Muerte cult unnerved him. Likewise, Miguel grew frustrated at the sheer influence a foreign gang held on Bolivia. Dubbing himself "El Commandante", Miguel ruled the province with an iron fist, however, having realized his ambitious nature, El Sueño refused to trust him, and often sought ways to avoid transporting his drugs through Media Luna. Alongside other like-minded officers, Miguel approached the cartel, offering their services in exchange for a cut of the profits, utilizing the sudden influx of funding, Miguel quickly established a stronghold in Media Luna. Retaining his ambitious nature, Miguel realized that Santa Blanca represented an opportunity to escape poverty. During the period of fragile peace, Miguel discovered the sheer profits that Santa Blanca was receiving daily from its drug smuggling. When the Santa Blanca Cartel arrived in Bolivia, Miguel alongside Unidad took part in the drug war against the cartel, however, the rising casualties amongst the civilian population and Unidad forces resulted in a peace deal formed between the government and the all-powerful cartel. ![]() Constantly seeking to escape the family's poverty, Miguel joined La Unidad in which his father had risen to an extremely high ranking and influential position. Owing to his social status, Miguel was noted to be ambitious and frequently impatient, and his suffering made him well aware of the plight of other fellow Bolivians.
